The definitive 62-strong entry list for the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019 

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, have released the final list of entries to the 84th edition of the race. A total of sixty-two vehicles, plus another ten reserves will come head to head at theCircuit de la Sarthe.

The last round of the 2018/2019 WEC Super Season will take place on the 15th and 16th of June and will enlist eight LMP1s and twenty LMP2s, as well as seventeen LMGTE-Pro and seventeen LMGTE-Am.

 

Besides the usual 34 WEC regulars, this year’s edition welcomes another 14 participants from other championships such as the IMSA, the ELMS and the ALMS. Each guest has received an invitation to take part in the legendary race according to their particular sporting merits.

 

LMP1: Alonso after last year’s success

The top prototype category, the LMP1s, remains the same. The eight cars enlisted to take part at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019 are actually the exact same ones that have competed throughout the 2018-2019 WEC Super Season. 

Fernando Alonso, former  Formula 1 Champion and winner of the 2018 Le Mans edition, will share the Toyota TS050 Hybrid #8 with the Japanese Kazuki Nakajima and the Swiss Sébastien Buemi. Regarding the ByKolles team, it remains to be seen who will accompany their main driver Tom Dillmann.

LMP2 class

There are twenty vehicles registered in the second prototype category, the LMP2s. Of these, seven are regulars at the World Endurance Championship. The remaining RLR MSport, ARC Bratislava, Interpol Competition and G-Drive teams, are all special guests to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019.

The High-Class Racing team will be adding Anders Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen to their line-up and the new drivers at the Duqueine Engineering team will be Nicolas Jamin, Pierre Ragues and Romain Dumas. United Autosport will be adding a second vehicle to their squad.

LMGTE-Pro class

The LMGTE-Pro class grid consists of 17 cars, ten of which are part of the WEC 2018-2019. As usual, this busy and generally very even category is monopolized by the official teams of large manufacturers.

Porsche will take the start with four 911RSR. Ford GT will also do so with the same number of vehicles belonging to the Ganassi Chip. The Corvette Racing team brings two C7R, one of them piloted by the Spaniard Antonio García.

Likewise, Aston Martin Racing will compete with a pair of Vantage and the BMW Team MTEK with two M8s. Finally, the other Spaniard in the LMGTE-Pro category will be Miguel Molina, onboard the Ferrari 488 GTE of Risi Competizione.

LMGTE-Am class

Finally, the LMGTE-Am category has a total of 17 entries, nine of which are WEC Super Season 2018-2019 regulars. New within the category are the five Ferrari 488 GTEs, two of which belong to the Kessel Racing team, one to the WeatherTech Racing team, another one to the CarGuy Racing team and the last one to the JMW Motorsport team.

The Dempsey-Proton Competition squad will be the biggest of all after incorporating two 911 RSRs, one of them by special invitation, to their ranks. The Ford GT of Keating Motorsport closes the registered amateur category list.
