The 24 Hours of Spa 2019 have arrived! The 71st edition of this most legendary GT endurance race starts this Saturday, the 27th of July.
Using an almost identical class structure as the Blancpain GT Series and the International GT ChallengeI, the Belgium track will count with 73 entrants from eleven different makes.
All the participant cars will face this extreme challenge against the unique backdrop of the Ardennes forests.
Audi, BMW, Mercedes & Porsche
There are several contestants holding a good chance to become the next champions at the 24 Hours of Spa 2019 which makes it very difficult to venture into any prediction. Among them are the German manufacturers Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche.
Audi
The firm from Ingolstadt will have talented Audi drivers Robin Frijns, Nico Müller and René Rast onboard their R8 LMS GT #1 (Audi Sport Team WRT).
Another one of their most precious assets will be car #25 (Audi Sport Team Sainteloc) driven by Frédéric Vervisch, Markus Winkelhock and Christopher Haase.
The #129 (Motorplast by Land Motorsport) of Christopher Mies, Ricardo Feller and Jamie Green will complete the team of the four rings.
BMW
BMW will try and defend its 2018 title. To that effect, they count on a good performance from the M6 GT3 #34 (Walkenhorst Motorsport) of Christian Krognes, Mikkel Jensen and Nicky Catsburg, as well as from #42 (Team Schnitzer) shared by John Edwards, Martin Tomczyk and Augusto Farfus.
Mercedes
The firm of the star, another of the most powerful teams taking part in the 24 Hours of Spa 2019, has chosen Nobuteru Taniguchi, Tatsuya Kataoka and Adam Christodolou to seat behind the wheel of their AMG GT3 #00 (Goodsmile Racing & Type-Moon Racing).
For their part Yelmer Buurman, Luca Stolz and Maro Engel will sit on #4 (Team BLACK FALCON) and Lewis Williamson, Gary Paffett and Tristan Vautier on #44 (Team Strakka Racing).
#88’s (Team AKKA ASP) line up will consist of Rafaele Marciello, Fabian Schiller and Vincent Abril and #999’s (Team GruppeM) trio are Maxi Buhk, Lucas Auer and Maxi Goetz.
Porsche
Porsche is another team to look out for at the 24 Hours of Spa 2019. The ROWE Racing will fight for glory with their 911 GT3 R #998 driven by Frédéric Makowiecki, Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy and with the #98 of Sven Müller, Romain Dumas and Mathieu Jaminet.
Porsche will also have car #99 piloted by Dennis Olsen, Dirk Werner and Matt Campbell. Other candidates for glory will be the #75 (KÜS Team 75) of Timo Bernhard, Earl Banberg and Laurens Vanthoor.
The British army: Aston Martin and Bentley
The German armada, however, will have to come face to face with the British missiles of Aston Martin and Bentley. The Garaje 59 team will bring out their Vantage AMR GT3 #59 driven by Come Ledogar, Andrew Watson and Jonny Adam at the 24 Hours of Spa 2019.
The #62 of Matt Parry, Matthieu Vaxiviére and Maxime Martin, as well as the #76 of Jack Dennis, Marvin Kirchhöfer and Alex Lynn, will put up their own fight under the flag of the R-Motorsport team.
Bentley
Regarding Bentley, the Team M-Sport has recruited Jordan Pepper, Jules Gounon and Steven Kyne for their Continental GT3 #107 and Alex Buncombe, Maxime Soulot and Markus Palttala for their #108.
The other Scuderia of the M-Sport Team will come into battle with the #109 of Rodrigo Baptista, Callum Macleod and Seb Morris, and the #110 of Lucas Ordóñez, Andy Souzek and Pippo Derani.
The Italian Legion: Ferrari and Lamborghini
For another year, the Italian representation comes by the hand of Ferrari and Lamborghini at the 24 Hours of Spa 2019. The former is bringing two units of the AF Corse, the 488 GT3 #51 of James Calado, Sam Bird and Alessandro Pier Gudi, and the #52 of Louis Machiels, Andrea Bertolini and Tony Vilander.
The SMP Racing Team will try their luck with the 488 GT3 #72, driven by Spaniard Miguel Molina, Davide Rigon and Mikhail Aleshin. The last machine from Maranello is the 488 GT3 #227 of HubAuto Corsa, driven by Daniel Sierra, Nick Foster and Nick Cassidy.
Lamborghini
Lamborghini’s most precious asses are its three Orange 1 FFF Racing Team. Franck Perera, Phil Keen and Giovanni Venturini will seat behind the wheel of the Huracan GT3 #519.
Also in for the win will be the team from #555, made up of Taylor Proto, Diego Menchaca and Giacomo Altoé, as well as that of the #563, driven by Andrea Caldarelli, Dennis Lind and Marco Mapelli.
