Almost four months after their engines were turned off in the pre-season testings, and several weeks after their factory halt, Mercedes will return to action on the track next week.
It should be noted that the pilots of the star-formation will get on an old car (Mercedes W09, 2018) because the regulations prohibit doing it with current cars in these tests. Before the event, Mercedes must keep the FIA informed about the cars they will use, the participating drivers, as well as the length and purpose of the test.
The test of Mercedes will be a great opportunity for both riders to regain sensations behind the wheel, after an unusual period of inactivity caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition, it will also allow team members to get used to the new work routines before the Austrian
Grand Prix (July 5), conditioned by the new restrictions imposed by the pandemic. These include social distancing, as well as the use of masks and gloves and other elements of individual protection.
