Formula E 2018-2019 calendar

There are 13 races in the Formula E 2018-2019 calendar spread across 12 different cities and four continents. The fifth season of the electric competition started December 15th in with the Riyadh ePrix at the urban circuit of Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The championship will end eight months later with the New York ePrix in Brooklyn on the 13th and 14th of July.

The cities of Ryad (Saudi Arabia), Sanya (China) and Bern (Switzerland) will make their debut at this Formula E 2018-2019 calendar and Monaco also returns to the calendar after its absence. The race in Santiago de Chile will change venues from the Forest Park to the O’Higgins Park.

Some of the cities missing from last year are Punta del Este (Uruguay) and Zurich, which is replaced by the also Swiss, Bern. From last year’s calendar remain Hong Kong (although losing its status as a double and inaugural appointment), Berlin, New York, Paris, Rome, Mexico City and Marrakech.

Host cities aside, there are other interesting developments that will make the e-competition even more exciting and spectacular in the Formula E 2018-2019 calendar. Regarding teams, we will see the debut of BMW.

The German brand has partnered with the Andretti team and is one of the big favourites having clocked the best times during the pre-season tests at the Cheste Circuit in Valencia.

This year’s Formula E 2018-2019 calendar will have another new team: HWA. The Germans come into the ‘silent’ championship with the aim of paving the way for the arrival of Mercedes.

This season will also count among the driver’s ranks with  Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa, Stoffel Vandoorne and Pascal Wehrlein. The Brazilian driver, second in the F1 World Championship of 2007, will contribute his experience to the Formula E.

The Belgian driver, teammate of Fernando Alonso in McLaren in 2017 and 2018, will be trying to forget his experience at the Woking team. The German driver, in the F1 during 2016 and 2017 with Manor and Sauber, hopes for a chance to demonstrate his true talent.

Finally another much-awaited development: This will be the first season where pilots complete the race without the need to change cars.
