MotoGP Argentina – Highlights and News

The second event of the MotoGP calendar had teams travel to Argentina and battle it out on the track at the Termas de Río Hondo Circuit, from March 30th to April 1st, a weekend marked by rain and its adversities, which managed to surprise us all and sure was fun to follow.

Bezzecchi gets his first win and is the leader of MotoGP 2023

On a race marked by very challenging grip conditions, Marco Bezzecchi got his first win in MotoGP following a race where he left no doubts that he was clearly in control and ahead of his opponents. The Mooney VR46 pilot got a perfect start, securing the race’s lead in the first turns and never letting go of it again. After getting a good safety margin, the Italian pilot managed to get an over 6-second gap between himself and the rest of the grid, which allowed him to drive more safely during the last laps, securing his first win after a dominating performance.

Alex Márquez on Pole for the first time in his career

On Saturday, Spanish pilot Alex Márquez managed to get the first pole position in MotoGP. On a rainy and troubling qualifying session, Márquez managed to come out on top when all odds were against him, after his motorcycle caught fire during Q1 and the pilot had to make use of his reserve bike to get the starting spot on the grid, with a time of 1:43:881.

The shortest grid in MotoGP since 2011

Last Sunday, Argentina was the stage for the shortest grid start in MotoGP history since Valencia 2011, with only 17 pilots riding on the track.

Following the crash that retired Marc Márquez and Miguel Oliveira, pilots Pol Espargaró, Enea Bastiani, and ultimately Joan Mir were all also out of the race, which meant that Honda was left without any bikes to compete on Sunday.

Coming Up Next: The Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas

Next on the calendar and the third event of the season is the Americas GP, which will have the pilots compete at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, from today, April 14th to the 16th. As the follow-up on the excitement of the first two races, this Gran Prix has a lot to look out for. We sure are excited to watch it.
