The former 2014 NASCAR champion grabbed a first victory in his 30th race at the Texas Motor Speedway circuit.
At this point in these as on there are no easy races and Harvick had to get the best out of his car, which, as he stated at the end: “I knew I had a really good car. I knew I had to do something different. I started driving a whole lot deeper in (Turn) 1”. The key moment arrived at ten laps from the finish line when the Stewart-Haas Racing Ford driver managed to gain some ground against Martin Truex Jr ending his rival’s lucky streak.
With this triumph Kevin Harvick secures a place for himself at the grand finale in Miami following Truex Jr., who leads the standings, and Kyle Busch, currently in second place.
Arizona will decide the finalist finalist
The fourth and last race in this thrilling playoff for the Homestead-Miami Speedway will be disputed between five drivers; Brad BradKeselowski, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson.
Johnson, last year’s winner and proud owner of a total of seven NASCAR CUP Series titles, is on this occasion the weakest contender. The great champion would have to perform a miracle, and his rivals obtain considerably less points, to earn the 60 points he needs. Currently he is 51 points short from the fourth playoff position cut-off accessmark. All this makes for a most thrilling last classification race, next Sunday 12th of November at the Can-Am 500 circuit in Arizona.
