Grand finale of the European Drag Racing Competition at Santa Pod Raceway

After the thrilling fifth encounter of the season in Sweden, the FIA European Drag Racing Competition (EDRC) 2018, comes to an end with the traditional grand finale at the British Santa Pod Raceway. In three of its four categories (Top Fuel Dragsters, Top Methanol Dragster, Pro Modified and Pro Stock Car) there are at least two possible candidates left for the title.

Classification

In Top Fuel, an unstoppable Anita Mäkela put a new record to her name at the Swedish Tierp Arena achieving an impressive 3.8770 seconds. She also extended her lead over her closest rival, the also Finnish, Antti Horto, who is now 84 points behind her. If there are no surprises, everything points out to a new title for the 2016 winner.

Andreas Arhtursson won the Pro Modified category in Sweden, breaking his own record in the process with 5.751 seconds. Jimmy Alund however, is still leading the standings with 521 points followed by Michale Gullqvist with 464.

In Top Methanol, Timo Habermann is just 15 points ahead of Dennis Habermann which makes for a very exciting final, where everything is up for grabs. In Pro Stock, Bengt Ljungdahl has a fragile, 38-point leadership over number two Stefan Ernryd.

With so much at stake, fans are awaiting this weekend’s European final at the legendary Santa Pod Raceway full of expectation. The classification rounds will commence on Friday the seventh and continue into Saturday. Eliminations will start on Sunday morning.
