KTM Factory Racing has announced that Danilo Petrucci joins to the team. Petrucci will complete his second year with Ducati in 2020 before handing over his spot to Jack Miller by 2021.
However, the Italian rider will not compete in the official structure of the Austrian manufacturer, but with his satellite formation, Tech3 Racing. There he will partner with Íker Lecuona, since the Spanish has renewed for a new year.
The agreement, signed by Danilo Petrucci and the orange firm last week on an express trip to the manufacturer’s headquarters in Mattighofen, has an extension of one season (2021) with an option for a second, which will depend on the results of the transalpine athlete.
Terni’s runner will occupy the place left by the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira, who ascends to the official team to share the box with South African Brad Binder, who, like Lecuona, will continue in his current team in 2021.
These KTM maneuvers make evident the blatantly obvious departure of their leader, Pol Espargaró. It is an open secret that “Polyccio” will head to Repsol Honda to be the partner of Marc Márquez, displacing the 74 to the LCR Honda team.
