The seven-time MotoGP World champion, Valentino Rossi, has left the door (very) open to continue competing during the next 2021 season and to bid farewell to the specialty, after a successful career of 25 years, on the track.
This was recently stated in an interview from his home in Tavullia, where Valentino Rossi is confined, like the rest of the planet, by the coronavirus crisis. In the conversation, broadcast on social networks by his Yamaha team, he shared the limelight with his partner, the Spanish Maverick Viñales.
“It is clear that if I stopped running in this situation, it will not be the best way, because it is possible that not even a single race will be run in 2020. So it is fair for me to participate in another championship and stop at the end of the next season, for I hope so much to continue in 2021“, concluded the most successful rider of all time“.
“I am in a difficult situation, but my first choice is to continue (in 2021). I have enough motivation and I want to continue. But it is also very important to understand the current level of competitiveness because in the second part of last season we suffered a lot and many times I was too slow. I had to fight far from the Top 5, “he said in a statement released by his team”.
