Poland prepares to celebrate in less than two weeks time its WRC 2017, one of the most interesting races of the championship. Its spectacular super-quick sandy roads and picturesque surroundings at the Masurian Lake District, make it a perfect spot for a beginning of the summer holiday break. The Polish Rally, with headquarters in Mikolajki (several hours north of Warsaw), launches at its 74th edition a thoroughly renovated layout, stretching for 1.422 kilometres divided in 23 different sections.
The Polish Championship is not only one of the most acclaimed competitions in the world, but also one of the oldest. It was first celebrated in 1921. Already considered one of the more technically challenging and fast races of the calendar, this year’s new layout includes elements such as two new special stages on Saturday, both of which will be driven twice: A 23.80 km one in Pozezdrze and a 10.50 km one in Orzysz. On the same day there will be an intermediate-assistance stage at Mikolajki right after the two special ones which will take place up in the north of the city. And to top it all up on Sunday there will be four final tests including the Paprotki Power Stage, a decisive moment to win some extra points.
