The Hyundai Motorsport WRT team recently announced its driver lineup for the Rally of Finland. The usual team stars, the Estonian Ott Tänak and the Belgian Thierry Neuville, will be joined this time by the Irishman Craig Breen.
The Scandinavian event, scheduled for August 6 to 9, would resume the World Championship, paralyzed since mid-March by the coronanirus pandemic.
It will be the second event for the Irish couple in this campaign after their participation in the last Rally of Sweden (13-16 February). There, the second stop of the WRC 2020, they finished in seventh position behind their teammates Tänak, second, and Neuville, sixth.
This announcement leaves Spanish Dani Sordo without a steering wheel for the Nordic race, as it already happened in 2019. To date, the Spaniard has only taken the start in a test of the 2020 World Rally Championship: Mexico.
In principle, his French teammate Sebastien Loeb should have gone up to the third I20 WRC in Finland. However, after his disappointing performance in Monte Carlo, Hyundai’s sports boss Andrea Adamo decided to replace him. And now the Italian, who wants to have the fittest riders on his team to score points in the Constructors’ Championship, has decided to replace him.
